Houston, TX (Sports Network) - Roy Oswalt tossed eight solid innings of one- hit ball and Ty Wigginton's three-run homer in the opening frame provided all the scoring, as the Houston Astros avoided a three-game sweep with a 3-0 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Wigginton finished 3-for-4 to extend his hitting streak to a career-high 14 games. The San Diego native went 9-for-12 in the series with two home runs, two doubles, a triple and five RBI.
Miguel Tejada had two hits, including a double, and a run scored for Houston, who entered the series on a season-high eight-game winning streak.
Oswalt (11-8) walked two and matched his season-high with 10 strikeouts en route to winning his fifth straight decision, a season-high. Jose Valverde pitched the ninth for his 31st save in 37 chances.
Stephen Drew recorded both hits for Arizona, which saw its three-game winning streak come to a halt.
Randy Johnson (10-9) was the hard-luck loser, allowing three runs on eight hits in seven innings of work. The future Hall-of-Famer, who remains stuck at 294 career victories lost for just the second time in his last eight outings.
